Some cellular notecards with older firmware did not connect between Noon and 5pm EDT today.
Resolved - A small fraction of cellular Notecards running older firmware were unable to connect to Notehub between approximately noon and 5pm EDT Oct 4th. These older firmwares do not properly handle certain rare network issues. The network issue would only have impacted 14% of cellular notecards and then only if they were running older firmware (< 10% of Notecards).

In response, we implemented a Notehub mitigation that allowed the Notecards to connect normally. This mitigation will also be used proactively in response to any future similar network issues.

Susceptible firmware versions are LTS2, LTS4.4.2 and earlier, and LTS6.2.2 and earlier. We strongly encourage all customers to upgrade to our latest firmware: LTS6.2.5 or later. If you must stay on LTS4, please upgrade to LTS4.4.4 or later. The issue is also addressed in our latest developer firmware 7.4.2.

Notehub UI and API offline for 10 minutes
Resolved - Between 10:03 AM and 10:14 AM EDT, the Notehub UI and API were unavailable. This incident also delayed event routing for Notecards connecting via wifi. Cellular Notecards were not impacted.

The root cause was unexpected behavior of our hosting provider during a maintenance procedure. Going forward, we have changed this maintenance procedure to avoid the root cause.
